It smells so delicious all over this building today! Kathie Temple and Carol Brown are making soup for the pot luck supper this afternoon. I'm hungry already!
Carol Brown is hobbling around with her foot resting on a walker (she hurt it this last week). She is still getting done what needs to be done. However, I don't imagine that we will be seeing any new snowmen for a while.
I heard that there were five folks present at the Coffee Hour this last Thursday. A number of us attended the funeral services and the luncheon for Mable DeBruin on Thursday and some folks are still under the weather, so to speak.
We are thankful that LaVonne McNett keeps that social time going. I'm sure it will pick up again, soon.
Arlene Quail reported this morning that Janie Burgess from Grover called on her, Wednesday. Arlene also said that her son Jerry Quail from Fayetteville, NC and her grandson Kenny Quail from the area spent Sunday night with her. Her son Jerry was leaving for home, Monday.
Irma Earley mentioned that she has been staying in. It has been just too cold and slippery to venture out. The church on the Mountain (Ward United Methodist) was cancelled due to the cold wind and snow on Sunday, Irma said.
Irma's daughter Maxine and Dave Shedden brought her a Valentine's dinner, Sunday evening.
Jessie Herman reported that she had a wonderful 97th birthday last week. She reported that she received many many cards, flowers, and gifts. Jessie also mentioned how much she appreciated this nice place to live and how thankful she is for all her good neighbors. Jessie is one special lady and held in high regard by the residents here. Frances Kobbe reported that her son, Richard and Barb Kobbe drove her to Williamsport for an appointment with eye specialist Dr. Lightman last week.
Everyone asks when my sister, Jeannette May, will be home from Florida, where she is visiting her daughter Becky and Dr. Scott and their family. Actually she doesn't know, I can tell everyone that she is feeling better.
Actually, she was sitting at the beach with her daughter when I called her. (Poor thing) so when the doctor gives her the OK to make the flight, she will be back. If she's smart she will stay until it warms up here.
My son Dann and Wendy Lepper brought me chocolate covered strawberries and flowers on Valentine's Day. I just ate the last strawberry (yummy). Wendy also brought a cheesecake to share, so we had a nice visit with coffee and cake.
Seventeen residents enjoyed the delicious soups at the pot luck supper this evening. That included Carol Brown's granddaughter, Haylee Fromille, who is like part of our Cedar Ridge family, now. Co-ordinator Roxie Holmes welcomed all and gave a short report on the status of the community finances before acknowledging the February birthdays. Those celebrating in Feb. are Jessie Herman, Beverly Smith, and Charlotte Tillotson. Those lucky folks were serenaded with the birthday song before Kathie Temple gave the invocation and the meal was enjoyed.
Who can know what
tomorrow brings,
Or down what path we'll tread;
But each day will be precious, if
we give each one to God.
There maybe pain or sorrow,
but we need have no fear,
For if we give all to HIm
Our paths He will make clear.
And someday soon
with Him we'll be;
From the World's dark weight
we'll be set free.
And all the pain will fly away
on that sweet and joyful
wedding day.
