Eric Smith gave me an item for last week which didn't make the column. He reported that he and Beverly had celebrated Christmas holidays with his brother-in-law and family.
Approximately eight residents were at Thursday Coffee Chat time. I'm sure it was a good time. I missed it because I went with my daughter Debbie Foust to Monroeton for my photo license. Afterward we went on to Wysox for a little shopping before stopping at The Weigh Station Restaurant where Debbie treated me to an early birthday lunch. It was a relaxing, mother, daughter day with even the weather cooperating. It was a sunny and seasonably warm day.
Irma Earley reported that she hasn't been out and about as much as usual due to the bitter cold and ice. She thought she'd play it safe and stay inside. "Smart Lady." After church services Sunday, Irma did get out for lunch at The Iron Skillet in Sylvania, with her daughter Maxine and Dave Shedden.
Mary Turner said she attended the movie "Annie" playing at the Rialto, Sunday night. Mary commented that it was a cute movie.
Mary was more excited about the football game. Her favorite team won. Now she can't wait for the Super Bowl.
Charlotte Tillotson reported that she and Jackie called on Harry and Sandy Jones at Hillcrest apartments in Troy, Sunday.
Jackie also visited her brother Glen and Mary Bailey while there.
Faye Pepper joined her mother Charlotte Tillotson for lunch on Friday. One day last week Roger Tracey called on Charlotte.
Thursday evening, I joined some of my family for dinner at Doc's Irish Inn where we were celebrating Judy Lepper's birthday. Judy's sister Pamela and John O'Brien are visiting in the area. They were able to celebrate with Judy also.
On Saturday, my son Dann and Wendy Lepper and granddaugher, Jessy and Marcus Oldroyd surprised me on my actual birthday by bringing lunch with Jessy and Marcus showing up with cake and flowers, making it a very nice surprise. I even blew out all my candles. Of course they didn't put all 8? of them on there.
Richard and Barb Kobbe took their mother Frances Kobbe for an eye appointment in Williamsport on Wednesday. Edward Kobbe paid a visit to his mother Frances, Friday afternoon.
Twenty-two residents enjoyed the January pot luck supper this evening. That included Carol Brown's granddaughters, Haylee and Cheyene Fromille.
Coordinator Roxie Holmes welcomed all and then reported on the status of the community here before acknowledging the January birthdays. Nelle Jean Owen, Kathie Lepper, Sue Baker and Carol Cole are all celebrating birthdays this month. Carol Cole gave the invocation before the delicious meal.
Residents here offer sincere condolences to Mary Spencer at her loss this past week.
Eric Smith said that he and Beverly attended the chilli and soup cookoff at The Grover Church of Christ and reported that he tied for first place with his venison chilli. Congratulations to him!
February pot luck supper will feature homemade soups. Sounds like an interesting change, should be fun.
