I was rather late gathering news here on "The Ridge" this chilly (cold) Monday morning. I attended Mass before starting my rounds and "my noggin" doesn't want to wake up, so I'm slow. Any way, it is a great way to start the day. However, with Mass that is.
I was so happy to see the little red flag up on the mail box. Yeah! I had to have another box for the news here. It does help out some what. I found it at the Dollar General. It had a flag, it was cheap. So there you go. We have a news box again.
Arlene Quail and I attended the outstanding performance of "What a Glorious Night" at the Church of Christ, Thursday evening. I'm always impressed with the local talent in our area and very thankful that they share it with us.
LaVonne McNett said that she attended the Christmas conglomeration at the Church of Christ, Saturday night and thought it was very uplifting. An excellent production.
Sunday night, LaVonne enjoyed the soup, sandwich and salad supper with church members at the Church of Christ in Grover. It was a fun evening of fellowship, she commented.
Carol Brown with her granddaughters Cheyenne and Haylee Fromille attended the Christmas conglomeration on Thursday night. Also, Carol said it was a great show and they all enjoyed it very much.
Because I was running late this morning, I was able to see Irma's daughter, Maxine Shedden. It was good to see her, she's a busy person, but she and her sister Debbie Elliot always take time to spend with their mother.
On Tuesday this past week, Irma's daughter Debbie drove her to Twin Oaks to visit Irma's brother Paul Machmer. They went to celebrate Paul's 90th birthday a few days earlier.
On Friday, Irma and her daughters decorated Irma's apartment for Christmas and then had lunch together.
After church services on Sunday, Irma enjoyed having lunch at the Iron Skillet with Maxine and Dave Shedden.
A few of my neighbors here have been having some health problems and have been hospitalized for a day or so. I'm happy to say that for the most part they will be returning to their apartments, sometime today.
I saw Mary Turner earlier, she said that she was Christmas shopping with her sister Trudy Moyer at Walmart in Mansfield on Sunday. Mary said as they were heading home they stopped at the Kentucky Fried Chicken Restaurant to pick up take outs for their supper.
When I saw Eric Smith as he was rushing to keep an appointment, he said that he had the services at the McCallum Manor on Sunday. Eric also told me that he and Beverly had celebrated Thanksgiving day with his sister, Caroline.
Frances Kobbe's son Richard and Barb Kobbe took her to Towanda this past week for an appointment for her hearing. Frances said that after her appointment she enjoyed doing some shopping at the KMart Store. Frances also commented how much she enjoyed the Christmas production at the Church of Christ, Thursday evening.
Last Wednesday I joined my son Dann and Wendy Lepper and granddaughter Jessy and Marcus Oldroyd to attend a birthday party to celebrate my great-granddaughter Alivia Jo's third birthday. Alivia received many nice gifts. We all enjoyed her cake afterward. Aivia is the daughter of my granddaughter, Kelsey and Jayson Hicks.
