Can you believe that Jenn, the shoe store owner where I work, found a bright orange/red maple leaf in the back yard of the store? And my husband Ron tells me he ran over a few brown oak leaves with the lawn mower this week, and lots of leaves (and nuts) are falling off our black walnut tree. In August? Fall will be here before we know it. Actually, we did have morning temperatures a week ago in the mid 40’s. The kids are clamoring into the store getting “back to school” shoes, with some starting as early as next week.
On our trip back over to the camp grounds Saturday after I got out of work we ran into a horrific thunderstorm. There was one big flash and within less than a second a big boom – now, that was close! Many thanks go to neighbor and friend Evelyn for giving us some sweet corn after she read in this paper about the raccoons getting ours. It was very thoughtful of her – we really appreciate it.
Once again, I’m sorry we missed church last Sunday. Gideon Lapitan was the special music – which I’m certain was wonderful as usual. There was even a special guest speaker, a Gideons International member. Do you think it was a coincidence there were two “Gideons”? Probably not.
I read in the Sentinel’s “Ralston News” that its correspondent Lois Ribovich was taking some time off from writing her column due to battling some cancer. Lois – we will pray for your cure and give you encouragement in hopes you can return to your writing as soon as you can.
