It seems like it’s been forever since we had a nice sunny day making the dull, gloomy atmosphere add to our unhappiness. It’s a scientific fact that we need that vitamin D sunshine to boost our mood and to help our attitude about everything.
Last Saturday several of the church family met in the fellowship hall of the church where we filled 40 trays with fresh fruit, homemade cookies, jam, honey, candy and testaments going out to folks that could use a little “pick-me-up” right now. I delivered about a half dozen trays, and it was so refreshing to see the joy on the faces of the recipients. It also gave me the opportunity to see how they were doing as many were suffering with a barrage of afflictions and/or troubling circumstances. I, for one, am looking forward to the candlelight service at our Alba church on Christmas Eve in the hopes of receiving an uplifting blessing.
Don’t forget the free breakfast at the Alba church this coming Saturday the 27th from 8 to 10AM. All are welcome.
Quote by Dale Evans Rogers: “Christmas, my child, is love in action… When you love someone, you give to them, as God gives to us. The greatest gift He ever gave was the person of His Son, sent to us in human form so that we might know what God the Father is really like! Every time we love, every time we give, it’s Christmas”.
On December 28, 1732, the first issue of “Poor Richard’s Almanack” for 1733 was advertised for sale. It was so widely successful that Ben Franklin had to print more copies. (Note the spelling of “almanac”). On December 30, 1953, the first color TV sets went on sale. On December 31, 1879, Thomas Edison demonstrated his new electric incandescent light in Menlo Park, New Jersey.
A New Year’s Resolution quote by Ben Franklin: “Be at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors, and let every new year find you a better man”.
I wish all of you a most joyful and humble Christmas and a Happy-Happy New Year! And, may God Bless us, one and all.
