by Lois Ribovich Again this is another sad week for Ralston as we lost another long time resident, Florence Starr Reese. Florence passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 3. Florence was well known in the community, and a former correspondent for the Independent-Sentinel. If there was anything going on in the church, fire hall or anything you could count on her to be there working.
Last week Ralston lost a long time resident, Owen "Gig" Boyer. He has been residing at Loyalsock Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Montoursville.
The class of '56 invited the class of '55 to have lunch with them Feb. 10, at the Midway at noon.
The Marine Corps League will meet Sunday, Feb 1. at 1 pm. There is a lot of stomach bug going around down here. Get well wish to Florence Reese. She's under the weather. Janie Spencer and Ron Haldeman are both doing well after back surgery. Steve Miller a former resident, is very ill in the Williamsport Hospital. He is in the ICU, his family would like cards sent to him. By Lois Ribovich Michele Reese, Gainesville, FL spent a week with her mother Florence Reese. Florence has been under the weather for a couple weeks. Get well soon.
The class of '56 met at the Midway this week with Jane and Ed Moore, Ben and Peggy Bulkley, Ann Griswold, Steve and Lois Ribovich. The class would like to invite the class of '55 to join us on February 10 at the Midway at noon. Since the snowbirds are away and so few attend each, we'd like to get together thru the winter months. If you want to, just come and enjoy conversation and lunch, see you there. Carole and Norm Hicks joined us for supper last week. They had been visiting Norm's mother in Canton. Remember the Book Swap Shop. We have new books coming everyday. We have lots of kids and teens books. We are open Tue., Thur., and Sat. 10-12. Stop in and say hello. All Free. Come on Spring. Visiting John and Gale Orr were Mr. & Mrs. David Orr, from Patton, PA, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Morse from Cortland, NY. Visitors of Steve and me were our grandkids and great grand kids Tim, Erika, TJ, Gabby, and Hunter Witmer from Millersburg. By Lois Ribovich
John Ribovich of Rockford, IL visited Steve and me over the weekend. I don't know about you but it got really cold fast. Hope everyone has a nice Thanksgiving and thanks God for all our blessings. There are a few on the sick list, Charlie Carnes, Russ Barger, Jim Overmiller, and Florence Reese. A community Thanksgiving Dinner was held Sunday at the fire hall. It was well attended. Thanks to those who prepared, served and contributed to it. The church is collecting food items for the Food Pantry. There will be a Marine Corps League meeting December 7th at noon. Plan to come. The CHS class of 1955 will meet at the Midway December 1st at noon. All are welcome. I didn't write any news last week but I wanted to mention the Firemen's Appreciation dinner last week. The food was great, catered by Crouse's. The speakers were very interesting. The State Police fire marshal spoke about being at the search for Frien. He talked about the small communities coming together to see that they had everything they needed. How small communities help each other when times are tough.
The fire companies need more young people to help. In order to keep it going they need more EMT's, and fire fighters. Elise Knowlden, York was home visiting and attended the banquet. |
