By Esther Butcher Hopefully the snow that was here on Tuesday will be the last of the year. We need a beautiful and warm April. With the ice and snow this year, it was not so nice of a winter. I think we were very lucky compared to many other states, they were hammered with lots of snow and other bad weather.
By Esther Butcher Wish the weather would make up its mind and bring on Spring. I see some bushes have buds on them; they need some warm weather also.
Friday evening Brian Crandell and Cindy Putnam went to First Arena in Elmira to a Jackals hockey game. Brian’s grandson Parker Morgan was honored for his good achievement in 1st grade in Troy Schools. There were several students from Troy that were recognized. By Esther Butcher Hope everyone heard the wonderful sound of all the geese going on Monday. They finally got in gear to get North and bring on some warmer weather.
Friday evening grand kids Hunter Watkins and Quianna Rockwell spent the night with Cindy and Brian and went to Vinnies for supper. Saturday Brian and Cindy went for a ride up on Armenia Mountain, Tioga County. A lot of snow was gone, but some roads you still couldn’t travel on. Sunday Cindy and Brian met grandsons Cameron and Damon and their Daddy Mike at Burger King for lunch. By Esther Butcher Monday sure was nice with the sunshine, nice for going somewhere. The water was flowing every where, we need the snow to go away slowly. We are very lucky we don’t have much.
Tuesday morning Dona Beers attended the Book Share at the Green Free Library in Canton. She and granddaughter Allison attended the movie at the Granville Center Church on Sunday evening. By Esther Butcher I think the storm is on its way, schools getting out early and you can feel it in the air. We will have our ice for sometime yet.
By Esther Butcher Well, I don’t think I am getting used to this cold weather. It just keeps coming and a little colder each time. I had minus 11.9 on Tuesday morning, a bit chilly.
Congratulations to Stephen and Sarah Beers on the birth of their daughter Sage, who joins sisters Sadie and Sophie at home. By Esther Butcher Sorry there wasn’t news last week, I was on an unplanned vacation at the Troy and Robert Packer Hotels. Am doing fine, will print what I have.
Last Sunday Cindy Putnam had a birthday dinner for her son Billy Harris. Jami Park, her sons, Cameron and Damon, Billy, Alicia with Quianna and Brian enjoyed Lasagna dinner. Once again not much news, except for the snow that keeps everyone home, or the illness that is all around right now. Hope everyone gets better soon.
Visitors of Gary and Esther Butcher on Sunday were Bill, April, Zachary and Danika, Danville and George and Gloria Johnson, Powell. Spoke with Pauline and she said Hanna Clark her granddaughter has visited her on and off this past week. Hope Phyllis and Roxy are both getting better after their bouts of sickness and Roxy’s slippery ice experience. They have been plowing our road and keeping it pretty good. Hope we don’t get anymore snow. I see by Facebook, many children are sick and many adults too, hope everyone gets better soon along with the weather. By Esther Butcher I think we’ve had enough of the cold weather. The whole nation has been one big accident on wheels. The roads have been terrible.
Saturday Jami, Cameron and Damon Park and Noah Thomas came to visit Grammy Cindy and they all had lunch from Vinnie's. Brian Crandell went and saw his mom, Tucker at Arnot Ogden hospital Saturday where she is a patient. Sharlene Colton’s son Michael and wife Lee, Shinglehouse, visited her one day last week. By Esther Butcher Well I don’t have much news at all this week, the weather has been so cold that no one ventures out to do much.
Our Condolences to the family and friends of Virginia Ayres Vermilya of Canton who passed away January 8th. Happy Birthday to George (Billy) Johnson Jr. of Franklindale, who celebrated his birthday on January 13th, my nephew. There has been many convoys of gas equipment going East for the last few days, must be moving from one place to another. Lots if birds eating at the feeder these days, can’t say as I blame them, it’s been too cold. Hope the weather warms up and people get over their colds and such, maybe more news next week. By Esther Butcher The New Year is here, now it starts all over again. The day was sunny, but quite chilly, still better than what some got for weather.
Michael, Janet Pratt with Hannah and Daniel of Grove City, PA and Mark, Chris Pratt, Elizabeth and John Mark of Southport, NC spent the weekend before Christmas with their parents Gerald and Marjorie Pratt. Dona Beers celebrated Christmas Eve with John and family and Stephen and family. After Christmas brunch at Ben and Peggy Bulkley’s she left for Arkport, NY to son Tom’s home. Another week closer to Christmas, time sure is going fast now. I sure wish the sun would shine once in a while. Monday nights forecast didn’t show any sun until the weekend. Humbug. Authored by Esther Butcher
What a messy week we are having. The snow wouldn’t be so bad, but the black ice and freezing makes it very hard. Smart people who don’t have to work should stay home off the roads until they are treated and good for shopping. Jerri Renzo, Burlington, and Dona Beers attended the Christmas Conglomeration at the Canton Church of Christ on Friday evening, and reported it was really, really nice. We’ve had a little taste of winter, didn’t like the rain. Tuesday is going to be very cold, and not very warm for the rest of the week.
Ruth Wicker of Schnecksville, PA spent a few days with her sister and husband, Gerald and Marjorie Pratt, while Helmut went turkey hunting. There will be a Thanksgiving Eve program at the Granville Center Church of Christ at 7:00 PM. Everyone is invited to join us. Saturday Damon and Cameron came to visit residents at the Towanda Personal Care Home when I was working. Saturday evening went to a birthday party at Manley and Robin VanValkenburgs for Quianna Rockwell, daughter of Alicia and Bill Harris. She will be eight, Tuesday. The kids had a good time. Congratulations to our grandson Travis Butcher, who was Master of Ceremonies at the Veterans Day program in Canton. Keep up the good work Travis. The bird feeder was very busy today, had to fill it twice. Lots of different woodpeckers eating off their food. I guess they know more about the weather than we do. Tuesday morning it was 16 degrees. Just a little chilly, if the wind didn’t blow it wouldn’t be too bad. Have a good week. Such nice weather and they tell us get ready for the severe cold weather coming this weekend.
The Ammermans had their Thanksgiving dinner get together at the fellowship hall on Sunday after service at the Granville Center Church of Christ. Esther Butcher and sister Gloria Johnson went to the Town Center on Saturday for some shopping. It’s nice that they are finally getting the parking lot fixed. |
