News About 2015 Canton High School Football Camp

    The 2015 football camp will soon be open to any interested players starting August 10th. This year the PIAA has required that all schools have a 5 day heat acclimation period before the start of regular football season instead of the 3 day period last year.
    Some of the requirements for these practices are that there be scheduled water breaks for players and limited contact. There are also rules covering the length of practices with the idea being that we provide players a safe transition to practices that can sometimes he very hot in late summer.

Canton Junior/Senior High School Sports Physicals

    All sports physicals for the 2015-16 school year are scheduled with the school physician on Wednesday, August 5,  in the High School Nurse's Office.
   ALL  paperwork must be signed and filled out completely by parent and athlete prior to  the physical.  Parents interested in being present for their child's physical must  call in advance for an appointment.  Families may schedule more than one athlete at the same time.  The cost is $15/ student and must be paid prior to the physical.  No charging will be accepted.  The schedule follows:

Canton Minor Girls Lose In District Final
 The Canton Minor girls softball team lost to Tunkhannock 18 to 5 in the District 15 finals.
 Canton's Sara Saar homered. Marissa Ostrander and Chastity Greene each scored runs and Taryn Acla scored twice.

Troy Majors Take Softball Victory

 Troy's major softball team defeated Potter McKean 11 to 4 in the Jackie West Tournament at Wellsboro.
 Vanessa Thomas pitched for Troy and recorded seven strikeouts.
Allison Beers and Marissa Paulin each had three hits and Sadie Beers, Lindsay Steele,  Katie-Anne Ames and Vanessa Thomas each had two hits.  Fiona Oldroyd had a hit.

Wellsboro Defeats Troy Minors
 Wellsboro defeated Troy 18 to 1 in minor baseball action on July 1.

Wellsboro Blanks Canton Major Boys
 The Canton Major Boys baseball team lost to Wellsboro 10-0.
 Canton had two hit each from Brendan Matthews, Tyler Williams and Hayden Tymeson and one from Joel Schoonover.
 Hayden Tymeson, Joel Schoonover and Cooper Kitchen pitched for Canton.

Canton Boys Win Athens Tourn.

     Canton's minor baseball team defeated Sayre 8-7 on July 20 to take the championship of the Athens tournament
    Michael Davis, Holden Ward, Brayden Proctor and Mason Harold pitched for Canton.
     Mason Harold struck out two with runners and second and third to end the game.
    Michael Davis had an inside the park homer and a single and scored twice.
    Canton had a hit and a run each from Holden Ward, Zach Colton, Paulie Inman and Ben Fitch.
    Mason Harold had a double and Brayden Proctor singled for Canton. Michael Beers scored a run.
