Robert W. Kunkle Jr.

     Robert W. "Bob" Kunkle Jr., 66,  Towanda, Pa., Asylum Township, passed away Tuesday afternoon, June 16, 2015 at his home following declining health.
    Bob was born on Feb. 8, 1949 in Sayre, the son of Robert W. Kunkle Sr. and Vina M. Groover Kunkle.  He was a graduate of Towanda High School class of 1968 and later served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
     On April 11, 1970 he married the former Lola J. Vanderpool at the Liberty Corners United Methodist Church.    Bob was employed by the Claverack Rural Electric Company for 30 years as a lineman and serviceman until his retirement in 2004.

  
    Following his retirement, Bob worked as an electrician with JR's Electric Service of Monroeton.
    Bob was a life member of Beirne-Webster VFW Post No. 1568, Towanda, AM Vets Post No. 187, Asylum Twp. and the Towanda Gun Club. He also was a member of Towanda American Legion Post No. 42, the Vietnam Last Man's Club, the Towanda Beagle Club and the Monroeton Rod and Gun Club. Bob enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and traveling.
    Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Lola J. Kunkle; daughter, Jacque E. West, Liberty Corners; grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Keegan, Rhyan and Derika; sisters, Sheila Johnson, Towanda, Roberta Johnson, Towanda; sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and George Patrick, Herrickville; brother, Roger Kunkle, New Albany; brother and sister-in-law, William and Nancy Kunkle of Towanda; brothers-in-law, Eugene Maines, Towanda, Donald Vanderpool, Towanda; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Carol and Ralph Miller, Shunk; sister-in-law, Vera Fowler, Perkasie, PA; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
    He was preceded in death by his son, Rob Kunkle III; mother, Vina M. Groover Kunkle; father, Robert W. Kunkle Sr.; sisters, Linda Maines and Susan Kunkle; nephews, Dean Eric Johnson and Jason Robert Kunkle; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ira and Julia Vanderpool.
    A memorial service was held June 18,  at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, Towanda, PA, with Mr. Ed O'Connor officiating. Towanda American Legion Post No. 42 accorded military honors at the funeral home.
    Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
    The family suggests that contributions be directed to the Rob Kunkle Memorial Fund in care of the Towanda High School, High School Drive, Towanda, PA 18848 or to the charity or organization of one's choice in Robert W. Kunkle Jr.'s memory.
