Donald E. Preston

5/12/2019

On the morning of Sunday, May 12, 2019, Canton resident Donald E. Preston. Sr. passed away unexpectedly at his residence. He was 64 years of age. Born Oct. 17, 1954 in Sayre he was the son of Marshall D. Preston, Sr., and Opal (Grabb) Preston.
Following his graduation from Waverly High School enlisted in the United States Army. After returning to civilian life he was employed at the former Canton Manufacturing Co. as a machine operator. He was married to the former Cynthia Hartzig, with whom he raised three sons. Donnie enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as tinkering with machines and engines. He was an outgoing, friendly man who was always ready and willing to help anyone in need, more especially if it concerned car trouble. He was an animal lover in general and enjoyed the loyal companionship of his canine buddy, Chevy.
Donnie was also a man of faith, and was a part of the Christian fellowship at Lighthouse of Faith Church in Canton. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren, teaching them by example the ways that lead to good citizenship.
Donnie is survived by his wife, Cynthia, at home, son Allen (& Veronica) Preston and Donnie Preston, Jr., all of Canton, Marshall J. (& Veronica) Preston of Wyalusing, brothers Marshall D. (& Judy) Preston, Jr., Raymond Preston of Waverly, N.Y., brothers-in-law L.J. (& Karen) Hartzig, Jr., of Florida, and Tim Hartzig of Troy, sisters Lucille Jordan of Broken Arrow, Okla., Nancy (& Gordon) Wooden of Gainesville, Fla., Tish Daily of N.C., sister-in-law Penny Watkins of Florida. Seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall and Opal Preston, step-father Pete Bohem, sister JoAnne Gray, brother Charles Edward Preston and in-laws L. J. and Jean Hartzig.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, at Morse & Kleese Funeral Home, 94 N Center St., Canton. Service will follow at 11 a.m. with his pastor, Rev. Sean Tymeson, officiating. Interment will follow in East Canton Cemetery.
The family suggests that donations in Donnie's memory be directed to the SPCA, 2805 Reach Road, Williamsport Pa., 17701 (morseandkleesefuneralhome.com).
