Robin Lynn Buchler

    Robin Lynn Buchler, 60, passed away peacefully, February 28, 2017 after courageously battling cancer for four years.
    She was born in Baltimore MD and moved with her family to Troy PA shortly after her birth. 
    She graduated from Troy Area High School in 1974. 
    Robin earned her degree from Penn State in 1978.  She traveled and worked all around the world before settling in Wilmington DE in 1992.  For the past twelve years, Robin was the business office coordinator at Brookdale Assisted Living in Hockessin DE.
     Robin was predeceased by her father, Robert Buchler.
     She is survived by her mother Nelda Kendall and her husband Jack;  brother Brett Buchler (Carol),Roxana DE and their five children.  In addition surving are step sister Terry Bridges (Buddy) and by step brother Jay Kendall (Mary) both of Troy and also close cousin Guy Buchler (Fern), Selbyville DE.
    The family appreciated everyone who  for their calls, cards, thoughts, and prayers during Robin’s illness. 
     There will be a graveside service at 2:00 on May 6th at Glenwood Cemetery in Troy followed by a celebration of Robin’s life from 3:00 to 5:00 at the Troy Vets Club. The family  invites all friends and family to join them.

Norma Shedden

  Norma Shedden, 97, longtime resident of Troy,  was peacefully called home to Heaven on  February 27, 2017, at her son’s home in Troy Township.
​  Norma Jean was born August 25, 1919 at the family home in Granville Township near Cowley.  She was one of six children of the late Joseph W. Sr. and Maude (Shoemaker) Foust.  After graduating from Troy High School in 1936, Norma worked for a time as a secretary in Troy for the Boy Scouts Troop No. 1, which was the first established Boy Scout group in the country.  On June 24, 1939, she married Lial J. Shedden, they soon purchased a farm near Troy.  They shared nearly 48 years together and were blessed with four children before Lial’s passing on June 1, 1987.
    Norma was a great example of a dairy farmer’s soulmate.  A beloved wife, devoted mother, grandmother and an exceptional homemaker, she often would help with farm work and there were times which could be the entire day.  Norma was a talented cook and well-known for her white sugar cookies which she shared with many.  She was hard working and especially enjoyed being outdoors; she grew large vegetable gardens, picked fruit and wild berries to can for the winter and loved tending to her flowers.

Donald K. Havens

   Donald K. Havens, 87, Troy, passed away on February 27, 2017 at Robert Packer Hospital.  Born on September 21, 1929 in Troy.  Don was the youngest of three sons of Hugh and Edna(Melville) Havens.  
  Don graduated from Troy High School in 1947 and on May 9, 1948 married his high school sweetheart, the former Marjorie Congdon.
   Don started his business, Havens Well Drilling in 1955. He was an avid member of the Pennsylvania  Ground Water Association along with the National Ground Water Association.  He was past president of the PA Ground Water Association and as a member, he promoted water standards for safe drinking water throughout his life. Don also had a shop where he enjoyed wood and metal working. He had a passion for his farm,  doing field work and gardening. He enjoyed dancing in his early years and later playing cards with family and friends.
   In addition to his wife, Marjorie, surviving are his children: H. Keith (Patricia)Havens,Troy,  Kathleen (Renold) Aparicio, Norco, CA, Marla (Scott) Oldroyd, Troy;  eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sister in laws: Carol Rockwell and Janice Congdon; brother-in-law Howard(Bonnie)Congdon, many nieces and nephews.

Richard Dale Campbell

   Richard Dale Campbell, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend; was born August 7, 1939 in Canton, the son of the late Charles Richard and Nedra (Hickok) Campbell. He passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2017 peacefully in his sleep at his home at the age of 77.
    His infant brother, Allen Campbell preceded him in death.         Dale is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Connie (Bonning) Campbell; son, Charles D. Campbell with fiancée, Patty Santos; daughter, Pamela (Rob) Davis; grandsons, Joshua, Jordan and Maxwell Campbell, and Travis Brown; beloved siblings, Deronda (Robert) Bieri, Joyce Jones, Daphna (Harold "Tex") Watkins and Audrey (Eddie) Watkins; along with mother-in-law, Norma Batroney and several nieces and nephews. 
   He was a hard working man and a man of many talents. He owned and operated Kehler-Fields Inc. in Covington, as well as several other automotive businesses throughout his life. After working in the automotive field his entire life, he retired from NAPA Auto Parts in Blossburg. ​

Shirley J. Evans

    Shirley J. Evans, 74, Gillett, passed away  February 21, 2017 at the Sayre Heath Care Center. 
    Shirley was born May 20, 1942 in Clarion, PA daughter of the late William & Katie Sayers. 
   Shirley was married to Steven Evans on October 22, 1966 upon his return from the service and enjoyed 50 years of marriage.         She was employed at Wheelers Family Restaurant for many years as a Prep Cook. Shirley attended the Bentley Creek Baptist Church and in her spare time enjoyed reading, sewing, puzzles and spending time with her family.
     Surviving are he husband Steven Evans, Gillett; son and daughter-in-law, Steven & Tina Evans, Gillett; daughter and son-in-law, Christine & George Chilson, Elmira, NY; sister, Mabel Fingado, Clarion, PA, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
      Shirley was predeceased by her parents and twelve siblings.  
​     The funeral was held on February 25, 2017 at the Roberts Funeral Home, Inc. Wellsburg, NY with Reverend James Ellis of the Gillett Baptist Church officiating.         Interment was in the spring in Hanlon Hill Cemetery, Gillett, PA.

Lester C. Maynard

  Lester C. Maynard,  89,  Gillett, passed away Monday, Feb. 20, 2017 at the Towanda Memorial Skilled Nursing facility.
  Lester was born on May 11, 1927 in Gillett, son of the late Cola and Mae (Wright) Maynard. 
    Lester was also predeceased by his wife, Bertha, in 2012. 
Lester retired as a truck driver for Cargill in Big Flats, NY. ​

Edward "Mike" Austin

     Edward “Mike” Austin, 91, of Troy, PA peacefully passed away at home while surrounded by loved ones on February 19, 2017.  
    Born May 30, 1925 in Ogdensburg, PA, Edward Austin, “Ed or Mike” to family and friends was one of six children of Clarence and Emma (Watkins) Austin.          He was a W.W.II veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy as a Gunners Mate and was a member of Troy’s American Legion Post 49.           Ed married the former Dorothy Greenough on April 5, 1947 at the Troy Baptist Church Parsonage.  They were married for 69 years.  The beloved patriarch of the family, his grandchildren and great grandchildren were great joys in his life.  
     Mike was a logger all his life and worked for Cummings Lumber Co. in Troy until retiring.  From a child on he had a great love and appreciation for horses, especially work horses.  He owned and cared for horses into his 80’s.   Ed was a member of the New York State Horse Pullers Association.
      In addition to his wife, Dorothy, surviving are his children; Larue (Carlene) Austin, Big Pond, Wesley Austin, Troy, Ronald (Bonnie) Austin, Columbia Cross Roads, Mickey (Barbara) Austin, Troy, Cinda Baumunk, Troy, Nadine (Tom) Furman, Big Pond, Julie (Jeff) Strope,  Columbia Cross Roads; 19 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren;  sister, Edna Landon and sisters-in-law, Phyllis Austin, Canton and Shirley Kinsman, Troy; many nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends.

    Lee R. Crayton, 75, of West Franklin, died Friday, February 17, 2017.    
   Born in Towanda in 1941, Lee was the son of the late Albert and Louise Crayton. He graduated from Towanda High School in 1959 and married the love of his life, the former Bette Kier, in 1963. A lifelong resident of West Franklin, Lee loved the land, and farming it was in his blood, like generations before him. Inventive and artistic, he crafted witty solutions to everyday problems, always striving to build something better. A skilled woodworker from his youth, Lee created many beautiful keepsakes, from lamps to doll cradles, that are cherished by his family.

   George “Sonny” Bump, 73, of Monroeton, formerly of Canton, Passed away February 16, 2017 at home.
     Born December 14, 1943 in Sayre, George “Sonny” Bump was a son of the late Clifford and Lottie (Heeman) Bump.  He attended Towanda Schools.  Most recently George was employed as a bartender.  He worked at Our Place Tavern in Monroeton and previously at Tiny Tavern and the Brick Hotel.
    Sonny was married to the former Viola Scott who passed away in 2010. He was a member of the LeRoy Independent Baptist Church.  Sonny had a friendly, easy-going nature but he also was competitive.  He was an avid bowler, enjoyed fishing, playing cards and pitching horse shoes.
     Surviving are his children; Daniel (Billie Jo) Barr of Towanda and Misty Bump of Troy, his stepchildren; Rose Nudd of Luthers Mills and Robert L. Scott of Niagara Falls, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, brothers and sisters; Clifford Bump of Towanda, Paul (Linda) Bump and Sherry (Joey) Vincent all of Monroeton and Marty (Dollie) Qualman of Phoenix, AZ, several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Thomas Lawrence Woodward

     Thomas L. Woodward, "Tom" passed away Thursday, February 16, 2017 in Bullhead City, Arizona. 
    Tom was born on January 9, 1947 in Troy, PA. His Mother was Dora Helen Luckey of Sylvania, PA, and step Father, Vernon J. Luckey. He had two older sisters; Patricia Case (John), and Mary Lou Buck (Bruce).Tom grew up in Sylvania Borough, and was in the last class of 6th graders in the one room school house there.         He attended Troy High School, and graduated in 1964. Tom was a talented football player from a very young age, and was a member of the Troy High School Football and Track teams.
