Lucy M. Sullivan

  Lucy M. (Rutty) Sullivan, 83, well known resident of Fox Township, Shunk, PA., passed away unexpectedly at Guthrie Troy Community Hospital, early Wednesday morning, January 22, 2020. Lucy Mae was born December 20, 1936, in Grover, Pa. to the late Clyde and Mae (Hipple) Rutty. Lucy was employed at Canton’s Shop Vac for 20 years until her retirement in 1996. Following her retirement, she enjoyed volunteered at the food bank in Dushore for several years.
  Lucy was a very private, independent woman whom loved the peace and tranquility of her home in Frog Hollow and some would say she presided as the Hollow’s Mayor. Anyone who knew her knew she was outspoken and never afraid to tell it how it was. One of her favorite past times was putting together jigsaw puzzles. Lucy loved the outdoors and enjoyed watching the wildlife, especially birds and deer around her home.
Besides her parents, Lucy was predeceased by her siblings, Vera Mahar; Rosie Packard; Roscoe Rutty; Emmerson Rutty; Daniel Rutty and an infant sister Marcella Rutty.
  Surviving Lucy are her children, Lyle Brown of Canton; Tony (Sarah) Brown of Canton; Brian Brown of Shunk; Juanita Brown of Ohio; Rocky Brown of Florida and Denise (Howard) Losinger of Covington, grandchildren; Dusty Losinger; Riley Brown; Brian Brown Jr. and Samantha Lowe, siblings, Beverly Allen and Jane (Ed) Moore both of Canton, as well as several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
 In maintaining to her wishes services and burial will be private. Pepper Funeral Home and Cremation Facility, Inc., 578 Springbrook Drive, Canton, PA 17724 is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorial donations in Lucy’s name may be directed to the American Cancer Society, 1948 E. Third St., Williamsport, PA 17701 or to a charity of one’s choice. Janet Carmen Pidcoe

Janet Carmen Pidcoe was so loved by family that when she passed on Jan 10th, 2020 her two brothers, older brother Robert Pidcoe and younger brother Paul Pidcoe wanted her to return to the family cemetery in Canton, Pa. Janet was too well organized and had pre-planned and pre-paid for her final resting place to be with her mother at Crown Cemetery in Twinsburg, Ohio.
Ms Pidcoe was born to Blanche E. Kuchenbrod Pidcoe and Robert Irvin Pidcoe, Nov 23, 1925 in Wehrum, Pa. She was the second oldest of seven children. Both brothers are still alive, she was preceded in death by her younger sisters; Gaynelle Pidcoe, Ohio, Gladys Boggs-Pidcoe, Pa, Maida Chaney (Robert), Ohio, Linda Shears, Ohio. She has many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews all around the United States who loved visiting her.
After graduating from Canton High School in Canton, Pa, Janet moved to Akron, Ohio to live with an Aunt and Uncle. She found work as a book keeper with United Rubber Cork, Linoleum and Plastic Workers of America and was there until retirement. She had a love of new cars, crafts, books and travel. She quickly became a devoted Cleveland Indians Fan and was in the stands celebrating when the Indians won the 1948 World Series. Ms Pidcoe’s love for reading led to keeping a summary of all the books she read. She traveled around the world with her sister, Gaynelle, and cousins always picking up additional books and trinkets from the local areas.
To support her travels, Janet sold Avon starting in the late 1960’s and was a top seller for decades. She was a lifelong member of Family of Faith United Methodist Church also known as Grace United Methodist Church when she joined it back in 1943. There she was active in Sunday school, women’s prayer club, the free lunch program, teaching the bible, being an attendant in the nursery and even a treasurer for the Church.

Gerald L. Bourne

    Gerald L. Bourne, age 84, of Columbia Cross Roads, PA, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2020 at Bradford County Manor in Troy. He was born on November 6, 1935 in Sayre, PA, the son of Winfield and Elizabeth Bourne. Gerald was married to Barbara (Kepner) Bourne who passed away in 2011. He was a self-employed woodworker after retiring from Cummings Lumber in 2002. In addition to a love of woodworking, he also enjoyed cutting wood on his property and just being in the outdoors in general.  As often as possible, he enjoyed spending time with his family.  Gerald was also a member of the Troy Farmer’s Museum, Big Pond Woodworker’s Club and a passionate volunteer at the Bradford County Manor where he was selected as “Volunteer of the Year” in 2018.
​   Gerald is survived by his son, Ellery Bourne of Columbia Cross Roads; a daughter Robyn (Dwayne) Rummings of South Williamsport; four grandchildren, Brady Bourne, Brooklynn Bourne, Billy Rummings, and Heather Rummings; and a sister, Helen May of FL. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

Vance J. Seeley

  Vance J. Seeley, 72, of Coatesville, PA, formerly of Towanda, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2020, as the result of a motor vehicle accident in Chester County, PA.
  Vance was born October 18, 1947 in Troy PA, the son of Lewis and Marie Seeley, and graduated from Troy High School in 1965.  He attended Penn State University for four years, until a Draft notice from the Selective Service interrupted his education.  He was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1969 and honorably served in Vietnam, receiving the Combat Infantry Badge, the Bronze Star Medal, and the Purple Heart.
  On August 7, 1993, he married Terry Bassett in Canton PA and together they raised one son.  Vance was employed by DuPont for nearly 30 years until his retirement in June 2004.  He also enjoyed many days helping at his family’s business, Milky Way Farms.

Dr. Charles Richard Driscoll

  Dr. Charles Richard Driscoll, 88, of Towanda, PA passed away early Tuesday morning, January 14, 2020 at Guthrie Memorial Hospital, Towanda, PA.  He was a committed teacher of 30 years, a classical pianist, and a church organist.  Son of the late Lawrence and Clara Driscoll of Towanda, Charles was born July 13, 1931.  He attended Saint Agnes Elementary and was graduated from Towanda High School with First Honors in the Class of 1949.  At Mansfield State College he earned his bachelor’s degree with majors in both music and in literature and also applied majors in both piano and in pipe organ.  He did graduate work at Penn State University and held graduate degrees from Mansfield University of Pennsylvania, Mount Saint Mary’s University, Maryland, and Wesleyan University, Connecticut.  He further attended Colloquiums at Cornell University, Misericordia University, and the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.  Having chosen a career in education, Dr. Driscoll taught in the Pennsylvania Austin School District, in the Northeast Bradford School District, and in the Mansfield University Department of Music.
  He concurrently maintained a private studio practice at his Towanda Musical Arts Studio where he taught music theory and trained piano and organ students at all levels.  He was then church organist at Saints Peter and Paul and organist-choirmaster at Christ Episcopal in Towanda and at Trinity Church in Athens, PA.  Dr. Driscoll also served as judge for the Pennsylvania Federation of Music Clubs, the National Guild of Piano Teachers, and the Baldwin Piano and Organ Competitions of Elmira, NY.
In 1982, Charles and Catherine S. Lopatofsky of Troy, PA were married at St. Peter’s Cathedral in Scranton, PA.  They resided in West Palm Beach, Florida, where Charles became recognized as a professional pianist.  In 1983, while serving on the Board of Directors of the National Federation of Music Clubs, Dr. Driscoll was named National Chairman of the NFMC Junior Composers Department.
Assisting him as Vice-Chair was his wife Catherine and together they directed for ten years the National Junior Composers Contest which awards cash prizes annually to talented teenage composers across the USA.  They both were also members of the Federation Concert Chorus that performs at all NFMC National Conventions.  Dr. Driscoll next served as Chairman of the Past Presidents Assembly of the Florida Music Club of Palm Beach.  Moving back to their Towanda home in the year 2000, Charles and Catherine were commissioned Eucharistic ministers through the Pastoral Formation Institute of the Diocese of Scranton.  They assisted in their home parish of Saints Peter and Paul.  It was in 2013 that Charles was sadly bereaved by the death of his loving wife following 31 years of devoted marriage.
  A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, January 18, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Third St. Towanda, PA with Rev. Edward Michelini, pastor, as celebrant.
   Interment will be in Bradford County Memorial Park, Burlington Township, PA.

Sharon A. Brown

  Sharon A. Brown, 62, of Troy, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2020 at the Troy Community Hospital surrounded by her friends and family.
  Sharon was born in  Troy, PA., August 3, 1957,  to Norman Brown and Alberta Baker. She moved to Martha Lloyd Community Services on February 1, 1988 and is where she spent 31 happy years.
Sharon enjoyed the holidays, and those who knew her best would say that Christmas was her favorite. There was just something about a nice Christmas tree that gave Sharon lots of joy. Sharon was affectionately known for playing with people’s hair, giving hugs, and making those around her smile.
  A celebration of Sharon’s life will be held at Martha Lloyd in their gymnasium on January 24, 2020 at 1:00pm. Pepper Funeral and Cremation Facility, Inc. are assisting Martha Lloyd and her family in making final arrangements
