    After a 3-year hiatus, Clyde Peeling’s Reptiland is pleased to announce the return of Flashlight Safari on October 23 and 24 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
    This exciting Halloween event gives people a chance to explore the zoo and its nocturnal inhabitants after dark. Many animals become active at night, and Flashlight Safari provides an opportunity to witness their “secret” nighttime activities.

Chemung Canal To Issue New Debit Cards With Anti-Fraud Chip

Chemung Canal Trust Company (CCTC) announced that, in an effort to reduce potential fraud, it will reissue all new debit cards to nearly 45,000 clients in the coming weeks.  All  the new cards will feature anti-fraud technology which is expected to reduce risk to the bank and its clients, and minimize the number of card re-issuances that result from data breaches which sometimes occur at local, regional or national merchants. This anti-fraud technology is commonly referred to as an EMV Chip.

C&N Names Christina Merwine As Compliance Officer

    C&N recently announced the appointment of Christina Merwine as Compliance Officer. In this role, Merwine will manage C&N's compliance program to ensure all regulations are effectively incorporated throughout all areas of the bank and to guide the bank through the constantly changing regulatory environment. Christina will continue to report to C&N’s Executive Vice President of Risk Management, John Reber. “Christina has been the Assistant Compliance Officer for the past 4 1/2 years where she has been a vital part of developing our strong compliance program. She has the knowledge and skills to lead the compliance department going forward,” Reber said.

WoofStock Pet Parade On September 26

  On September 26 at the WoofStock Music Festival being held at Animal Care Sanctuary (ACS) in East Smithfield there will be a Pet Costume Parade. Between musical performances at 5:00 costumes will be displayed by Animal Care Sanctuary dogs as well as dogs brought to the event. Yes, dogs are welcome! Children can dress in their costumes too!  The music will be played from 3:00 – 8:00, featuring Lando On Fire, Justin Raynor, Janelle Daddona, and Spexxx.
    Along with the Parade, the event will feature hayrides, pumpkin decorating contests, Hand to Paw Art, and other children’s events.  The pre-vet interns who are with ACS this semester will be working in the indoor arena with the children. There will be food vendors, and the Dairy Princess will be serving ice cream. Tours of the facility will be offered and T-shirts will be sold.

"WoofStock" At Animal Care Sanctuary

    Animal Care Sanctuary will be holding its first annual WoofStock Music Festival on Saturday September 26th from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Local bands and musicians that will be playing are: Lando On Fire, Justin Raynor, Janell Deddona, and Spexx.
  There will be food, breweries giving free tastings, kids’ activities including a costume parade for pets and people, hayrides, and tours of the facility.
 Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs or blankets to sit in the field and listen to music while enjoying the beautiful surroundings. The kids’ activities will be in the indoor ring of the barn.
  The cost per person is $10.00 and children under 12 are free.
    Animal Care Sanctuary is a non-profit organization caring for over 500 animals daily with the goal of finding them all forever homes.

Arnot Health’s Cardiac Rehabilitation program was recognized for its commitment to improving the quality of life by enhancing standards of care.
 Cardiovascular rehabilitation programs are designed to help people with cardiovascular problems including heart attack, coronary artery bypass grafting surgery, stable angina, angioplasty, valve surgery, heart transplant and stenting procedures.  Participating in a cardiovascular rehabilitation program helps patients recover faster and improves their quality of life.  The program includes exercise, education counseling, and support for patients and their families.

    Eating right starts early, and local families learned how to make the most of family meals with “Kids in the Kitchen.”
    Donning their personally decorated chef hats, kids took turns identifying and grouping types of food into categories, discovering what makes grains “whole” and protein “lean.” Following an introduction to My Plate by registered dietitian Jen Davis, a guide to building a well-portioned plate at each meal, the group bonded over building their own healthy plates, creating good-tasting and good-for-you treats.
