Fine Arts Council Of Troy Plans Scholarship

7/30/2015

The Fine Arts Council of Troy met at the Zander Gallery on Tuesday, July 14. Seven members were present. Since a quorum was present according to the by-laws, we finalized a plan for the Douglas Heavlow Scholarship. We chose to provide a one-time award at the end of the 2015-2016 school year to students who have shown marked improvement in art skills because of true interest, desire to learn, and hard work. There will be eight awards, one for a high school student and one for a middle school student in each of the four usual districts—Troy, Canton, Towanda, and Northeast Bradford. A formal notice of this award will be sent in the fall, so art teachers can consider their selections throughout the school year.
