During the meeting, Jerry May from MC Insurance went over the new insurance policy for the upcoming year. He brought to the board's attention several additions such as coverage for sexual, verbal, and general abuse, privacy matters (breaking into computers and retrieving private information) and increasing the value of property rebuilding.
Mr. May wanted to commend Mrs. Bixby, Mrs. Gilliland, and the rest of the safety committee for during a wonderful job, which in turn lowered the insurance rate.
The resignation of Virginia Roupp Personal Care Aide at TIS was approved.
Members of the board were asked to read the information of those people running for President and Vice President of the PSBA.

At its September 8 meeting the Troy School Board approved the resolution presented by Robert W Baird and Company which gave permission to accept the proposal to refinance two bond (2008 and 2010) with interest not to exceed 6% and with a 2% profit.

Superintendent Charles Young announced that a tentative agreement has been reached with the Troy Area Education Association. No details can be announced until both sides have approved the proposal.
Northern Tier Career Center – John Morgan stated that Mrs. Frankhouser, director of NTCC, had resigned and Beth Schultz, a retired superintendent from Athens School District, is interim. They are seeking a permanent replacement. He also noted that he would like to get more information out about programs in the Center.
Intermediate Unit 17 – Dan Martin spoke about the reorganization of the board. Mr. Martin was elected vice president. He also mentioned that John Brenchley resigned and Brian Driscoll is his replacement.
Primary School Report – Steve Brion's report included the beginning of the first fundraiser; open house will be Sept. 22 from 6-8; and a new program where students are rewarded for good behavior is a great success. Every week prizes are given from a drawing of a gold coin which they receive as a reward.
Intermediate School principal – Mary Abreu reported The Mobile Lab will be at the school, Sept. 20 through Oct. 2; on Sept. 24 and Oct 1, an informational meeting will be held to explain the new grading system to parents. NO more ABC's. The students will be graded to standards; cookie dough fundraiser is starting; and the new system for "car riders" is working.
Junior/Senior High School Principal Sue Shipman congratulated Colin Binford on his fine performances in soccer and football last week; all iPads were distributed and bugs are being worked out; the Calvacade of Bands is in Towanda, Sept. 30; and the FFA is leaving on a trip.
Superintendent Charles Young. noted that he got a call from the PA Auditor General asking about the district's financial situation. The Auditor will call again if the impasse is not settled; the County Commissioners will talk to the board next month about leasing of the land next to the NTCC for a Safety Center; and he reiterated that ABC grading is a thing of the past.
