The Troy Area School District Board of Education met on May 12 and 19.
After the opening and the approval of the minutes and finances, the board heard several reports.
Principal of Elementary School Steve Brion reported a very successful "Move Up Day". He also announced "Community Days;" Kindergarten graduation on May 27th; and State Fair for Second graders, June 4.
Intermediate Principal Rebecca Stanfield announced the spring concert was to be held; and sixth grade will be having move up day.

Sue Shipman, principal of the high school, noted that she will welcome the sixth graders on May 26th; the state envirothon was held and the team took seventh place; academic awards and athletic awards programs were held; the Alumni program is on Friday, 5:30; senior trip starts on Tuesday.
The resignation of Stacey Hussmann was accepted and the board approved two salaries to be paid while she trains her replacement.
Joseph Mohr and Melonie Mix were hired at 19.75 hr/week casual custodians at TIS.
Allison MacKinnon was added to the substitute support staff.
Coaching contracts were awarded to Annette DeLosa, girls volleyball; Corey Johnson, girls soccer; and Mikayla Bristol
Two new books were approved for students in seventh grade.
The driving simulator was also "cool", according to Bill Hansell. They hope to make it more cost effective next year.
The board approved the advertisement of the Proposed Final Budget which would include a tax increase.
Board members, Rebecca Nauta asked if it would be possible to push to have students enter a TASD Charter School. It will be looked into.
A special board meeting to look at the contract for the support staff will be held on May 28th at 7 p.m.
