The Canton Area Education Association (CAEA) and the Canton Area School District both voted to ratify a successor agreement to their current contract.
The current agreement is scheduled to expire, June 30, 2015 The new agreement will expire on June 30, 2018 and will include salary increases of 2.5% each year.

Additionally, the contract will eliminate some of the columns currently in the salary schedule while asking the teachers to pay more of the healthcare deductible out of their pockets instead of using the District provided Health Reimbursement Account.
“This was really a great process to work through,” said Stu Karschner, the PSEA representative assisting the CAEA. “Once again each side listened to the other respectfully and we discussed the issues important to each party and each accomplished what we wanted while acceding a little to the other side.” “Contract negotiations were very professional and they were always productive.
I think both parties are going to be very happy with the outcomes from this agreement, which helps everyone with their commitment to the success of every student in the district,” said Karschner.
