The Troy School Board normally meets on the second and third Tuesdays of the month, but due to scheduling problems, they held their first meeting on Monday, October 12.
At that meeting, Ms. Traci Gilliland, business manager spoke to board members about HIPPA and FERPA. She told them that what they hear at meetings or read in memos sent out to them are strictly for their eyes only and they are not to discuss any information about the school, board, or students to anyone.
Also at the meeting, the board approved placing $234,361.80 excess revenue over expenditures from the 2014-15 budget into the Capital Reserve Fund.

Ms. Gilliland noted that excess funds were derived from the 97% tax collection rate, which is very high and she had only budgeted 92%; utility savings, eliminating a bus route, and a reduction in charter school students from 68 to 52, a trend all hope will continue.
Discussion was also held on the storage shed which is being built. A concrete pad and fill will be needed to make the shed more functional. Mr. Young will take a photo in time for the next board meeting, so members can see what needs to be done.
One other item discussed was how the Homecoming parade permit is presented. Next year, board members want to make sure that ALL traffic is closed both ways on all highways while the students march in the parade. They are concerned about the safety of the students. It will be mentioned to the organizers of the event.
