Francis W. Farley, 54, a former Philadelphia resident, was felled by a heart attack on September 27, 2015 while visiting Florida. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Farley was a fighter from day one. Serious birth defects caused doctors to give him a life expectancy of days to weeks. Farley beat the odds and survived. He endured dozens of surgical procedures as a child and as an adult to keep him functioning. He refused to let medical restrictions hold him back from living the kind of life he wanted.
Known as Frank to friends and family, he graduated from Father Judge High School. He worked for the City of Philadelphia in the Streets and Water Departments for ten years, primarily as a mechanic. He later moved to Florida where he tried his hand running small businesses, and worked as a maintenance man and a bus mechanic.

As he grew older, Farley experienced increased complications from his birth defect and prior surgeries. Deteriorating health forced him to retire in 2008. Farley moved back to Pennsylvania that same year, settling in Canton, Bradford County.
Farley's interests included cars, motorcycles and hunting.
He is survived by Robin Farley, his wife of 27 years; stepdaughter; three grandchildren; his brothers Joseph and John, and sister Marie.
Celebrations of Frank's life will be held in Florida and Pennsylvania. Family and friends will be notified of the dates and locations.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation and/or the Urology Care Foundation.
