
He was a graduate of Canton High School, class of 1935. He and his father first operated a dairy farm but eventually established Landon Orchards where they grew apples, cherries, peaches and prune-plums.
On June 28, 1942, Roy married the former Lorene Williams in the North Union Church. They raised three children and were blessed with 58 years of marriage before her passing on March 2, 2001. Roy served on the Canton School Board for many years, was a member of Canton’s Masonic Lodge No. 415, North Union Grange No. 784 and the Wheel Inn in Roaring Branch. He served as a deacon and elder at the North Union Church of Christ and later attended the Canton Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ) where he was a member of the choir.
Surviving are his children, Kathryn Landon Preston (Lamar Haflett), Summerfield, FL, Betty Landon (Vyn) Redden, Harrisburg and Allyn (Betty) Landon, Canton; grandchildren; Jill, David, Anne, Ben and Elizabeth; great grandchildren; Ashley, Cassidy, Alexis, Adam, Owen, Vinnie and Victoria; several nieces, nephews, cousins, many dear friends and neighbors.
Family invites friends to call 6 – 8 Friday evening Nov. 17th at Pepper Funeral Home, 578 Springbrook Dr., Canton.
Rev. Nancy Beahm will officiate the funeral service Nov. 18, Saturday, 11 a.m. at the Canton Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ, with Rev. Dr. Philip Wanck assisting.
Burial will follow in North Union Cemetery.
