On the morning of Saturday, June 8, 2019, Marjorie Ellen (Morgan) Doud of Canton passed away peacefully at her residence. She was 87 years of age. Born Jan. 8, 1932 in Shunk, Pa., she was the daughter of Lester and Mary (Bohart) Morgan. As a child Marjorie displayed a gift for music, and was proficient at the piano by the age of eight. She joined other members of her family as part of the Morgan family band, performing at area square dances. Remarkably, she never had a music lesson, nor could she read music. In time she would share her gift and her talents with the parishioners of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church in Canton. During her senior year at high school, while at a square dance, she met the love of her life, Philip Doud. Following her graduation at Canton Area High School, Class of 1950, she and Philip were united in marriage. Together they raised three sons and three daughters, and would have celebrated 69 years together this September 9th. Over the years Marjorie was active in the 4-H and the Altar & Rosary Society at St. Michael's Church. She enjoyed working in her flower garden and was well known for her molasses cookies. She was devoted to her Lord, her family and her community. She is survived by her husband, Philip, at home, sons James H. (& Dorothea) Doud of Canton and Steven C. (& Kerry) Doud of Troy daughters Mary Ann (& Jeff) Whitney of Norwich, N.Y., Janet E. (& Norvin “Mooch”) Holmes and Alicia (& Frank) Jennings, all of Canton, brother Ronald Morgan of Troy, sister Gertrude Robinson of Montoursville Falls, N.Y., special sister-in-law Alice Ingham of Hornell, N.Y., Her faithful Schnauzer companion, Lady, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, P. Dennis Doud as well as her siblings Harold, Harmon, Geraldine(Rathbun), Morris and Richard.
