Known to his friends as “Coconut”, he was born August 4th, 1961 in Sayre, and was the son of Walter and Eliza (Johnson) Vanderpool.
For most of his working life John was a house painter, but his career was cut short by his illness. However, John was never one to allow himself to be confined and controlled by his infirmities.
He lived his life to the fullest, experiencing and enjoying life’s pleasures every day. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed watching NFL games on TV, and was an avid Steelers fan, and watching his own grandsons playing football, as well as his granddaughter who is a cheerleader. He was loyal to his community and was a devout follower of Black Knights football.
John was a devoted father and grandfather who strived to be independent despite his physical limitations, and was truly an inspiration to his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Vanderpool, Sr. and his wife, Ella Vanderpool.
The funeral service was held Monday, the 23rd, at the Assembly of God Church, 20 Kingsbury Ave., Towanda with the Rev. Thomas Geiger officiating.
Interment followed in Bradford County Memorial Park.
