Born in Canton December 17th, 1928, he was the son of Harry and Ruby (Decker) Hoffa.
Known to all as Ed, he was a graduate of Canton High School, Class of 1949. Throughout his working life Ed was employed at the former Swayze Folding Box Co. in Canton, with the exception of the time he served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
On February 14th, 1955 Ed married the former Bessie Arbogast, and together they shared 60 years until Bessie’s passing in 2015.
Ed enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid gardener of both vegetables and flowers. He enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. and in earlier years was a motorcycle enthusiast. When he lived on the outskirts of the borough he raised horses. He also raised turkeys for Thanksgiving. Ed always had a zest for life.
His warm smile and soft-spoken demeanor endeared him to most everyone he met. He was a member of the former Canton Chapter of the Oddfellows.
Ed is survived by nephews Glen Arbogast of Ohio and Jim Johnson, Williamsport; nieces Virginia Ogden, Blossburg, Cindy (& Tom) Evans, Canton and JoAnn Day, Elmira; very special friends Sharon Alexander and Shelia Wesneski, Blayne and Chayton Wesneski, all of Canton and Bret Alexander, DuPont, Pa., as well as several great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to his wife, Bessie, Ed was preceded in death by his brother Marshall Hoffa, nephews Robert Arbogast, Richard Arbogast, niece Barbara Mix and very special friend Norm Alexander.
Funeral services were held March 19th at Morse & Kleese Funeral Home, Canton, with Pastor Nancy Beahm officiating. Interment will be in Beech Flats Cemetery.
