Ivan was a kind, loving, intelligent, and happy-go-lucky man with a great sense of humor. He was a social butterfly and seemed to make friends everywhere he went. Ivan loved to hunt on his Aunt Toddy and Uncle Ray’s property. He was happy to share the family tradition with his nephew, Brent, when he took him out hunting for his very first time. He also enjoyed fishing, especially during his time living in Florida.
Ivan was a huge music buff. He was known as DJ TROLLMAN while working at UORadio.com. His DJ name was derived from his nickname, Troll, gained in his younger years. Ivan was a free spirit and wasn’t afraid to move around. Canton, PA; Ocala, FL; Mather, PA; and Steubenville, OH were a few of the places he called home. Not unlike his desire to move around, he also held many different job positions with companies such as: Kmart Distribution, Futures, and Shop Vac. Ivan had an amazing memory and was a vat of random knowledge. He would frequently be called by his sister, Faye, asking the name of songs or other random questions that she knew he would know. Ivan was also a bit of a historian. He thoroughly loved discussing history and telling long winded stories explaining the history of wars, countries, inventions, musicians, and so on.
His niece, Carolann, attributes the passing of her college history class to him. He sat for hours upon hours and explained the World Wars to her in a way that she could better understand. Ivan loved to cook and was an excellent host. You could expect a full breakfast spread made lovingly with his Grandmother’s cast iron pans when you spent the night with him. Ivan was the sweetest and most loving dad, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a big teddy bear and a big kid at heart. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Ivan was a faithful Christian and his family finds solace knowing that he is now in Heaven with Jesus and reunited with loved ones.
Ivan was predeceased by his grandparents, Evan and Lula B. Jenkins; mother, Carol J. Kipp; father, Charles Finogle; stepfather, Arthur Kipp; sister Hope Amedeo; niece, Olivia Spencer. He leaves behind his children, Jake and Sierra Finogle; sister, Faye (Robert) Spencer; brother-in-law & friend, Frank Amedeo; nieces, Carolann and Gabrielle Spencer; niece, Rebecca (Derek) Reese; nephew, Brent Spencer; great nephews, Brayden and Jackson Spencer; and very special friend, Shelley Woods.
At Ivan’s request there will be no formal services. His family will be holding a memorial for him at a later date. The family wishes to thank all of the amazing caregivers who showed Ivan such kindness and went above and beyond to make him feel at home during his extended hospital visits and dialysis treatments. There aren’t enough words to express our gratitude for your love and compassion. In lieu of flowers, Ivan would want direct donations made to The Wounded Warrior Project and St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Olivia Spencer’s name.
