On the morning of Friday, May 3, 2019 Emerson M. Welch of Troy passed away quietly at Bradford County Manor. He was 87 years of age. Born July 21, 1931 in Sayre he was the son of Horace D. and Mary Harriett (Rockwell) Welch. He graduated from Troy High School with the class of 1949. Emerson grew up on a farm and always was a farmer at heart, if not in practice. He was employed for many years as a truck driver with AGWAY, delivering fuel to farms throughout the area. This afforded him the opportunity to stay close to the local farming community. On June 10, 1951 he married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn Garrison, and together they raised five children and would have celebrated their 68th anniversary next month. Emerson was a warm, friendly, outgoing man who made friends readily. He enjoyed camping, fishing and gardening. He always put his family first, but also donated his time as a coach with the Springfield Little League. He was a kind man who walked through life wearing a smile and displaying a positive attitude. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, at home, his children Susan Farrell of Mansfield, Dennis (& Debi) Welch of East Troy, Roger Welch of Troy, Mary Ellen Boubelik of St. Paul, MN, Vonnie (& Marty) Waters of Hanover, MN, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Mary Harriett Welch and brothers Richard and Alton Welch
