Bernice Chamberlain

11/13/2017

Bernice Bristol Chamberlain, of Lakeland, Florida, formerly Bentley Creek, went to join her husband in heaven on Nov. 13, 2017.     She was the loving wife of Afton Chamberlain. The couple married Nov. 1, 1950, and had 63 happy years together.
Bernice was born Oct. 18, 1929 in Troy, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Leon and Rossa VanNoy Bristol Ross. She graduated from Troy High School. After her marriage to Afton she lived in Bentley Creek as a homemaker and enjoyed raising her two children.
She loved her grandchildren and was a doting grandmother. She was a longtime member of the Bentley Creek Wesleyan Church and was a member of The Grand Paraders Square Dance group from Troy. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her guests. She enjoyed her garden and was always canning and freezing fruits. She was a visitation volunteer with the church at the Bradford County Manor. One of her favorite things was going to Florida with her husband in their RV.
Bernice is survived by her children, Terry Chamberlain of Bentley Creek and Kathleen (Walter) Dinse of Plant City, Florida; her grandchildren, David (Emily) Chamberlain, Stephanie (Jeffery) Jelliff, Michael (Lauren) Dinse, Mark Dinse, Kristen Ryan, Joel (Christine) Dinse, and Keith Chamberlain; several great-grandchildren; her sister, Betty Fitzgerald Canandaigua, New York; along with several nieces and nephews.
Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Afton Chamberlain; her parents; and her brothers, Frederick Bristol, Howard Bristol, Richard Bristol and Stuart Bristol.
Family and friends are welcome to call from noon to 1 p.m. on Dec. 8, 2017, at the Bentley Creek Wesleyan Church on the Berwick Turnpike in Bentley Creek, Pennsylvania. The funeral service to honor Bernice’s life will be held at 1 p.m. on Dec. 8, 2017 at the church with the Rev. Robert J. Wuethrich officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of her family in Bentley Creek Cemetery. The Roberts Funeral Home, Inc., 279 Main St., Wellsburg, New York, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made in Bernice’s memory to Terry Chamberlain for his legal defense fund; c/o Stephanie Jelliff, 85 Broken Road, Columbia Cross Roads, PA 16914.
