Gerald E. “Gerry” Rubert of Albuquerque, NM, formerly of Owego, NY, died November 17, 2015 in hospice care at Presbyterian Kaseman Hospital.
Born the youngest of six on June 7, 1932, in Bradford County, he graduated from Troy Area High School in 1950. His military service was with the US Army in West Germany during the Korean Conflict. Married to Norma in 1954, in 1964 he moved his family to Owego, and was employed by IBM until his retirement in 1987. His career included working on the early computers for NASA’s Space Program. He and Norma were avid bowlers, and he golfed with similar devotion. Widowed in 1997, he moved to Albuquerque in 2001. He and Ann enjoyed travel including excursions to Alaska, Australia & New Zealand, and numerous RV trips around the US. They were also active members of Round Dance Clubs where they made many friends. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no funeral services, and his ashes will be interred at Mountain Lake Cemetery, Burlington, PA at the family’s convenience. Mary Healey Livezey, 74, passed away at Danbury Hospital on November 14, 2015 with her loving husband, John by her side. Mary was born January 8, 1941 in Bronx, NY to the late Louis Healey and Irene Rohrs. She was a resident of West Redding for over 50 years and was a long time devoted volunteer at the Dorothy Day Hospitality House which provides meals and shelter to those in need. A man truly dedicated to his faith, Rev. James W. Barrett, 89, of Troy, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, November 12, 2015, from the Skilled Nursing Unit at Towanda Memorial Hospital with his family by his side. He was the loving husband of the late Elizabeth M. (Booth) Barrett who passed away on October 18, 2007. The couple married on August 25, 1952 and had 55 happy years together. Rev. Barrett was born on January 2, 1926 in Blossburg, son of the late Rev. and Mrs. Owen C. and Flora (Briggs) Barrett. He was an East Smithfield High School graduate, class of 1938. Jim was a graduate of Mansfield University and Drew Theological Seminary, and was a US Army veteran, serving his country in the Philippines during World War II and was in the occupation force in Japan after. Charles R. “Sam” Cole, 98, well known and respected resident of Cogan Station, formerly of Roaring Branch, PA was called home to his Savior on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Valley View Nursing Home in Montoursville. Charles Raymond was born on September 21, 1917 in Roaring Branch, a son of the late Arthur S. and Florence M. (Buzzerd) Cole. He was a 1937 graduate of Canton High School. In 1940, Charles began a 22-year military career by enlisting in the U.S. Air Corps. and received his training in aircraft maintenance. Mr. Cole served five tours overseas; Australia, New Guinea, the Philippines, Japan and Korea. Morris "Mo" Fred Morgan, age 80, of Mansfield, passed away at Robert Packer Hospital on Thursday, November, 12, 2015. He was born on April, 8, 1935 in Wheelerville, son of Lester Harold Morgan and Mary (Bohart) Morgan. Morris was married to DeAnna (Husted) Morgan. Prior to his retirement he worked as a brick mason. In his free time, Morris was a member of the Mansfield Friendship Lodge, the Corey Creek Golf Course, and Loyal Order of the Moose of Wellsboro. He also enjoyed being outdoors, loved playing baseball, bowling, hunting, golfing, and watching local wildlife. Fabiano Erasmo Serpa, 84, of Millerton, passed away November 11, 2015 at Dar-way Elder Care in Estella. Born on April 27, 1931 in Brazil South America, he was the son of Manoel F. and Ophir (Gomes) Serpa. Fabiano was of the Catholic faith. He was a practicing attorney of law in Brazil before moving to New Jersey. In the states, he worked as a baker and a landscaper. Fabiano’s interests included reading and looking up information on the computer. Surviving are several dear friends, Judie Bertani of South Carolina, Linda (Ed) Stewart of Pine City, NY, Mark (Audrey) Voorhees and family; Austin, Olivia and Dylan of Pine City. Also like family were his caretakers and staff at Darway who took wonderful care of Fabiano. He was preceded in death by a special friend, Earl Werner. Mary was born on December 14, 1919 in Granville Summit, the daughter of Taylor and Elnora Leiby Manley. Having lost her mother at an early age, Mary spent her childhood growing up in Granville Center where she was raised by her loving aunt, Belle Manley. Mary was a graduate of Troy High School class of 1937 and following high school was employed by the Troy Hotel. On Sept. 26, 1941 she married Carl A. Henson in Coryland, PA. Mary was formerly employed by the Eclipse in Elmira, NY, Sylvania Electric in Towanda and Herr's Dairy Bar in Towanda. Tyler Molyneux, 23, of Canton, passed away very unexpectedly on November 9, 2015. Tyler Calvin Molyneux was born on March 24, 1992 in Towanda. He was the son of Calvin and Marlene (Walborn) Molyneux of Canton and a 2011 graduate of Canton High School. Most recently he was employed by Barefoot Flooring and Oakhill Veneer in Troy. He possessed a beautiful loving spirit and huge heart; there to offer help to anyone in need. He loved just hanging out with family and friends. Always on the go, Tyler would be busy working on cars, going mudding with friends, watching his favorite football team, the Pittsburgh Steelers or enjoying surf and sunsets at Ocean City, MD. Grace Rogers, 89, Canton, passed away Friday morning, November 6, 2015 at the Bradford County Manor. Grace was born at the family home in Granville Summit on July 14, 1926, the last survivor of 13 children in the late James and Mabel (Colton) Shedden’s family. She married Marvin Rogers in 1957 at the Grover Church of Christ. Grace’s life revolved around her love for family and home. Always one to stay busy, she enjoyed doing many things, especially walking, reading, playing cards and bingo. |
