Gary is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Amber Saxon II, Geoffrey and Ashley Saxon, Steven Saxon; two daughters, Katie and Maggie Saxon; a daughter to be born in November, Paisley Nan; four grandchildren, Celly, Bryce, Josh and Jaxon; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Janine and Shane Martin; Cindy Saxon; several nieces and nephews.
Gary Lorde Saxon, age 51, of Troy, died Wednesday, October 12, 2016. He was born March 15, 1965 in Ft. Dix, NJ, a son of Florence Saxon. Gary worked for Tioga Tanklines, Inc. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and his children.

Mary Frances Welch, 64, Troy, PA passed away October 11, 2016 at Guthrie Troy Community Hospital. Mary Frances, “Fran” Ashton was born November 29, 1951 in Elmira, NY, a daughter of the late Neil Ashton and Frances (Schaefer) Mason. After graduation from Southside High School in 1969, Fran graduated from Elmira Business Institute. On September 9, 1972, she married Rick Welch in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Elmira. Fran was employed by Troy’s District Justice office for over 20 years until retiring in 2007. In earlier years, she was employed by New York State’s Office of Vocational Rehabilitation. Fran was a devoted and very active member of Troy’s St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church. A loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Fran appreciated times shared with the people she loved. She also was a very organized person and enjoyed many interests including reading, crocheting and playing trivia games. Lewis H. Hubler, 94, Troy, passed away peacefully at Arnot Ogden Medical Center on Oct. 11, 2016 in Elmira, NY. He was born in Kulpmont, PA, on Nov. 18, 1921, the son of Lewis C. Hubler and Mary Shaloka Hubler. Lewis was a graduate of Hegins Township High School. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on Sept. 11, 1942, and served overseas during WWII in the Asiatic-Pacific Area with the Special Weapons Group, Seventh Defense Battalion. He reenlisted for another four years during the Korean War. He was a proud Marine and a member of the Troy American Legion, Post 49. After WWII, he attended East Stroudsburg University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Education. He obtained his Master's Degree in Education from Penn State University and continued work in a doctoral program there. He taught American history and physical education in various school districts and was a baseball and basketball coach, coaching several championship teams. After teaching for several years, he pursued an interest in school administration and became a Superintendent of Schools, working for several districts, including Troy Area Schools. He retired as Superintendent of Leechburg Area School District in 1978-79. After retirement he served on the Troy Area School Board for a number of years. His primary focus was always on education and instilling a love of learning in children. Lewis was devoted to his family, spending a great deal of time with his children and grandchildren, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Troy. He had several hobbies, including antique collecting and restoration, reading, fishing, and hunting. He was also an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He will be sadly missed by his family. Diane E. Stein, 65, Columbia Cross Roads, passed away Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, NY. She was born October 10, 1950 in Kittanning, PA daughter of the late Jack & Irene (Sekres) Roberts. She was married to Alfred “Al” Stein on May 10, 1969 and celebrated 47 years together. Diane loved spending time with her family and gardening. She was previously employed at Bradley Farms in Elmira, NY where she worked in several capacities and as their bookkeeper.
Jeffrey Duane Scheepsma, age 59, of Charlotte, NC, formerly of Elmira NY, and Wetona, PA, was called to heaven, unexpectedly, on October 8, 2016.
He was born July 19th, 1957, in Batavia, NY, the son of Duane A. and Patsy Burbage Scheepsma. Jeff was preceded in death by his loving grandmother, Kathleen Doris Burbage, favorite uncle, Walter Burbage, Jr., and his biological father, Duane. He is also the son of Victor and Patsy Burbage Chapman, of Columbia Cross Roads, Pa. He leaves 2 loving sisters, Lori Scheepsma Antonson, of Chatham, NY, and Lisa K Scheepsma, of Waverly, NY., a step-sister, Lisa Chapman Schucker, of Sylvania, Pa., and a step-brother, Rodney Chapman, of Florida. Also surviving are his dear nephews and nieces, Justin L Robinson, of Virginia, Casey Jeffrey Duane Voorhees, of Waverly, NY., Krista Antonson, of Chatham, NY, Hannah Antonson, of Texas, Adrienne Antonson, of Illinois, and Jacquelyn Antonson (Tobi) Greiff, of Maryland. He was a caring uncle to three great nieces, Nelayna and Arya Robinson, of Virginia, Jayden Voorhees, of Waverly, and a much anticipated great niece-to-be, of Maryland. He is also survived by many special cousins, including Cheri Burbage Thomas, of Big Pond, PA, and his faithful, loving, canine companion, Tara. Alexander Summers, 24, of Troy, passed away Friday, October 7, 2016. Born January 29, 1992 in St. Petersburg, Russia, Alexander Fyodor Summers, “Alex” or “Sasha” to family and friends, was the son of Gary Summers of Williamsport and Cynthia (Watkins) and Luther Fitzwater, Troy. Sasha was a 2011 graduate of Troy High School. He was currently employed by PA Flooring of Williamsport. Previously Alex worked for Cudd Energy Services in Canton. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Alba. Sasha was an outgoing and personable young man who made friends easily; always willing to help anyone. He had respect for his elders and possessed a dedicated work ethic. Sasha loved being outdoors, especially he enjoyed hunting and fishing. In addition to his parents, surviving are: sister, Olga Summers, Williamsport; nephews, Trace and Jaiden of Texas; aunts and uncles, Ann and Frank Campbell, Grover, Tom and Penne Watkins, Gene and Jeanne Summers, Gail and Stanley Heysham all of Canton and Graham Summers of Florida; also several cousins and special friends. Steven C. Smith, 72, Canton, (Union Twp.) passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at the Gatehouse in Williamsport. Born November 24, 1943 in Canton, Steven Charles “Smitty” Smith was a son of the late Malcolm and Rowena (Benedict) Smith. He was a 1961 graduate of Canton High School. On June 5, 1964, Steve married the former Connie Watkins in the Ogdensburg Church. He was employed by Paxar Co. in Sayre until retiring in 2007. In earlier years Steve worked at Swayze’s in Canton and then Masonite in Towanda. He was a member of Ogdensburg’s Church of Christ. An accomplished bowler, Steve enjoyed participating in several area leagues. He was a die-hard Yankees and Cowboys fan. Steve also was a knowledgeable handy-man. Times spent with his family and especially his grandchildren gave him great happiness. Surviving is his wife of 52 years, Connie; sons; Jeff (LaVonna) Smith, Canton, Rod Smith, Montoursville and Rick (Michelle) Smith, Roaring Branch; grandchildren; Stephanie, Deanna, Heather, Alex, Lacey, Brandon, Justin and Zack; seven great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins; special friend and neighbor; Chuck Groover, Canton. Also his faithful dog, Keesha. Jeremy M. Judson, 27, Nescopeck, PA, passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, October 5, 2016. Jeremy was born February 23, 1989 in Towanda son of Nick R. Judson and Carrie L. (Knepp) Judson. He was a graduate of Central Columbia Schools and was employed at Leggett & Platt Carpeting. Jeremy loved the outdoors and enjoyed four wheeling. Surviving are his mother and her husband Carrie Judson and Rich Brestowski, Drums, PA; his father and his companion, Nick Judson and Bonnie Borek, Columbia Cross Roads; brothers, Joseph & Kristi Judson, Columbia Cross Roads, Jared Judson and Rachel Pointer, Harrisburg, Jordan Judson and LeAnne Bowman, Bloomsburg; nephew Joseph Judson, Jr.; several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Jeremy was predeceased by his maternal grandparents John & Doris Knepp and his paternal grandparents Wendell & Jo Judson. Lucille Terry, 90, Wellsboro, PA formerly of Covington, was called home to Heaven on Monday, October 3, 2016, from her daughter’s home in Wellsboro. Lucille Alice was born January 10, 1926 in Canton, PA. Her parents were the late Lemuel M. and Myrtle M. (Bastion) Smith. On April 10, 1946 she married Donald Terry. They shared 45 years together and were blessed with seven children before his passing on Sept. 18, 1991. Family always came first in Lucille’s life. Her faith in God was her guide. She was an active member of the Cherry Flats Baptist Church and their Ladies Bible Study Group. Lucille especially enjoyed family gatherings, walking, cross stitching and fishing. Surviving are her children; Russell (Virginia) Terry, Lititz, Rita (Eric) Michael of Selinsgrove, Kathleen (Jack) Brenchley of Peyton, CO, Samuel (Tammy) Terry of Ulster, Timothy (Shirley) Terry of Gastonia, NC, Lois (Jerry) VanNess, Wellsboro and Deborah (Jeff) Kingery, Prescott, AZ; 24 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; great-great grandchild; two siblings; Reba Shepard of Roaring Branch and Larry (Harriett) Smith, Canton, an uncle; Dean Bastion of Elmira, several nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. In addition to her husband Don, she was predeceased by a grandson, Chad Terry and siblings; Leatrice Hill and George Smith. |
