“Dick” graduated from Troy High School in 1941 and Mt. Herman Prep School in 1942. He attended Drexel University, enlisting in the Air Force in 1943, becoming an aviation navigator. After discharge, he worked at Troy Engine Machine, bought & managed Gustin’s Jewelry Store and retired from Paper Magic. He was a life member of the Troy Presbyterian church, a member of the American Legion, the Masonic lodge and past president of the Troy Rotary.
Richard J. Gustin, of Troy, passed early Labor Day morning. He was born in Sylvania, PA to Dr. Grant H. Gustin and Fannie McMahan Gustin on November 5th, 1923, the last surviving grandchild of Col. Richard Gustin, Civil War Veteran. Loretta Brown Gustin is his surviving wife of 68 years.

Miosi, Esq. passed away at her home in Ashburn, VA. She was born in Sayre, PA on July 22, 1952, the daughter of Beverley Allen. She graduated from Canton High School in 1970 as Salutatorian, Cleveland State University in 1976, and Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 1979.
Dianna served as an attorney for the Internal Revenue Service in Washington, D.C. for 31 years and then as a director for PricewaterhouseCoopers. Her interests in addition to raising her children and grandchildren were Labrador rescue and gardening. Robert E. Beach, 79, of Troy, PA and formerly of Granville Summit passed away peacefully on Monday afternoon, September 5, 2016 at the Bradford County Manor. Robert Earl, “Bob” Beach was born in Elmira, NY on May 6, 1937. He was the son of the late Fay Oldroyd and Lorena (Cook Blauvelt) Beach and step-son of the late Raymond James “R.J.” Beach. He married the former Julia E. Darrow on March 7, 1958 at Mountain Lake’s Methodist Church. They have shared 58 years together and raised four children. Robert and Julia owned and operated Beach’s Farms in Granville Summit for many years until retirement. Together they improved both the dairy and land through their dedicated and insightful work ethic. In addition to the daily operations of the farm, Bob also hauled milk for Troy Dairy. Family meant everything to Bob. He was an awesome, fun-loving dad and grandpa who enjoyed making time to play children’s games. Bob always loved being outdoors and liked to hunt and fish. He was very interested in farm tractors, participated in several area tractor pulls and was a member of the Twin Tiers Antique Tractor Club. Bob also enjoyed watching sports, especially Dallas Cowboys football. On the afternoon of Sunday, September 4th,2016, Durland L. Mosher, Sr. passed away quietly at his residence in Columbia Cross Roads surrounded by his beloved family. He was 68 years of age. Born June 14th, 1948 in Troy, he was the son of William D. and Betty L. (Bailey) Mosher. Known to all as “Skip,” he was a man of imposing countenance with a heart of gold. Skip was well acquainted with rigorous labor, having worked several years in construction with S.E. Williams Co. of Canton. Eventually he became an over the road trucker, owning and operating his own rig. During the 1970’s when C.B. radios were popular Skip was a member of the Happy Handles C.B. Club, and was well known over the air waves as “Legal Skip.” He was a life member of the Canton Fire Department as well. Skip enjoyed hunting, country music and participating in local tractor pulls. With his warm smile, friendly handshake and easy going demeanor, Skip formed instant, but lifelong, friendships with just about everyone he met. David A. “Dave” Vroman, 62, of Linden, died on Friday, September 2, 2016 at The Gatehouse.
David was born on March 16, 1954 in Blossburg and was the son of Margaret Anne (Collister) Vroman of Wellsboro and the late Judson James Vroman. He had worked for American Lumber for 24 years then worked for Danzer Americas Veneer. He was a member of the Marine Corp League/Toys for Tots and enjoyed fishing and hunting. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his life partner of 20 years; Robbin L. Gardner of Linden, one son; David A. Vroman, Jr. “Cricket” of Trout Run, two grandchildren; Joshua D. and Kryslynne L. Vroman, four brothers; James M. Vroman of Ralston, Russell W. Vroman of Mansfield and Mark J. Vroman and Dallas E. Bastion, both of Ralston, four sisters; Dawn M. Route of Roaring Branch, Bonnie L. Vroman of Burlington, Jean C. Takach of Canton and Starr A. McLaughlin of Ralston. |
