Born in Roaring Branch on February 8, 1939, Robert John, “Bob” was a son of the late Charles E. and Beatrice (Sones) Fulmer. After attending Canton schools, He served in the U.S. Army. On Dec. 19, 1964, he married the former Catherine E. Beck at East Point United Methodist Church. They were married 40 years before Cathy’s passing on Nov. 2, 2005. Bob was employed as a tool grinder at Ward Manufacturing in Blossburg until retiring in 2008. He was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Grover and enjoyed coin collecting, cutting wood, gardening, fishing and hunting.
Robert J. Fulmer, 76, Roaring Branch, passed away September 18, 2015 at his daughter’s home in Granville Summit.

Crawley, 82, of Roaring Branch, passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Twin Oaks Personal Care Home in Granville Summit. George was born in Williamsport on December 9, 1932, a son of the late Harvey and Carrie (Edkin) Crawley. He was married to the former Doris Roupp for over 40 years before her passing on Aug. 6, 1999. George worked at Textron Lycoming in Williamsport for over 32 years before retiring. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He held life memberships at Ralston’s Red Run Gun Club, the Ralston Hunting Club and Roaring Branch Hunting Club. He also was a member of the Korean War Veterans in Williamsport. Eddie Holmes III, 51, Canton, peacefully passed away at home while surrounded by his family on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 following a courageous battle with cancer. Edward Costello Holmes III, “Eddie” was born on February 16, 1964 in Westchester, PA. He was a son of Nancy (Wilson) Love and the late Edward C. Holmes Jr. and the stepson of the late Richard Love. Eddie attended Westchester Henderson High School where he excelled in playing sports and was a talented artist. On March 31, 1984, he married the love of his life, the former Lynn Good and they made their home in Canton. Eddie was employed as a machinist for Parker Machine in Canton. An energetic and hard-working person, he was always busy with a project around his immaculate house or in his workshop. Eddie was a devoted family man. He was also a stimulating conversationalist, very popular and well liked; he tried to be a friend to everyone he knew. He lived life to the fullest and enjoyed many interests. Special times to Eddie were supporting his kids and nephews play sports, enjoying beautiful days while camping or taking jeep rides and just hanging out spending time with family and friends. Leon W. “Bud” Austin, 82, of Canton, passed away peacefully at home with family by his side, September 14, 2015 Bud was born August 11, 1933 in Ogdensburg, a son of the late Clarence and Emma (Watkins) Austin. He was a Korean War Army veteran and served as a heavy equipment operator. He later was involved with the Civil Air Patrol locally. In early years, Bud worked in the carpentry field with his brother in the Elmira area. He then worked with North Penn Gas Company for 31 years before retiring in 1995. Bud was a member of Canton’s VFW Post 714 and the Morris Run American Legion #167. On July 26, 1957, he married the former Phylis Isaacs in Canton’s Presbyterian (now Ecumenical) Church. Bud was a loving husband and a supportive and proud father of his children; the family’s well being came first in his life. Well known for his special witty humor, Bud was always ready with a clever joke, a big grin and a little picking; just to be sure you were listening closely. He was blessed with many friends. An outdoor enthusiast, he loved to golf. He also enjoyed many activities and hobbies especially hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, water-skiing and camping. He liked traveling, working with wood and could tinker and fix about anything he set his mind to. Most of all Bud was a kind and generous man, ready to help anyone in need and he’d never accept anything for his efforts. Lois M. Stone, 81, Canton (Ellenton Mtn.), was called home to her Savior on Sunday, September 13, 2015 at Darway Elder Care in Estella.
Born October 1, 1933, Lois was a daughter of the late Henry and Jessie (Cranmer) Laninger. She was married to Robert S. “Bob” Stone for 48 wonderful years before his passing on Aug. 13, 2010. Lois worked at Canford’s in Canton for over 20 years before retiring. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother for several years. Family always came first and foremost in Lois’ life. She loved their home on the mountain where she could appreciate nature and wildlife daily. Lois also enjoyed reading and would spend hours tending her flowers beds and gardens. Lois Ribovich, 77, well known resident of Ralston, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2015 at the Gatehouse Hospice, Williamsport. Born February 13, 1938 in Williamsport, Lois was the daughter of the late Francis and Dorothy (Libby) Wilson. She graduated high school with Canton’s class of 1956 and continued to be involved as reunion secretary. On November 30, 1957, Lois married Stephen Ribovich at the Ralston United Methodist Church. She worked with the U.S. Postal Service and for ShopVac Corp. in Williamsport for many years until retiring in 2000. Active in her community, Lois was the glue that held so many together and kept things running smoothly. She was a member of Ralston’s United Methodist Church, their Volunteer Fire Company’s Ladies Auxiliary and the Marine Corps. Deer Crossing Detachment. She also wrote the “Ralston News” column for the Canton Independent Sentinel and volunteered at the Ralston Book Store. Favorite things for Lois were reading and sharing good times with family and friends. She and Steve also traveled to the Caribbean. Dr. Dorothy Irwin Mitstifer, Ph.D, 83, of East Lansing, Michigan formerly of Williamsport, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2015 at the Hospice House of Mid Michigan. Dorothy, born August 17, 1932 in Gaines, PA, was the daughter of the late Leonard and Laura (Crane) Irwin. Upon graduating from Genesee High School in Genesee, PA, Dorothy earned a B.S. in Home Economics Education from Mansfield University, followed by both an M.Ed. and a Ph.D. from Pennsylvania State University. Richard D. Dunbar, 75 of West Springfield, MA passed away at home after a courageous effort with pancreatic cancer on September 10, 2015 surrounded by his family.

In 1980 he relocated to Springfield, MA and worked for the Springfield Libraries and Museums Association as the Vice President of Finance for 25 years, retiring in 2005. He was actively involved in Rotary International for many years, serving as president and actively participating in the yearly Toys for Joy Campaign. Richard D. Dunbar, 75 of West Springfield, MA passed away at home after a courageous effort with pancreatic cancer on September 10, 2015 surrounded by his family.

On the morning of Sunday, September 6th, 2015, Leah (Merrick) (Stabley) Hardin of Wellsboro, formerly of Canton, passed away quietly at Broad Acres. She was 89 years of age.
Born February 21, 1926 in LeRoy Township she was the daughter of Luther and Ruth (Crofut) Merrick. Leah graduated from Canton High School with the class of 1945. She was married to Donald Stabley, with whom she raised two sons and two daughters. Don passed away in 1969. |
