Anne Biddle Preston

 Anne Biddle Preston, 91, longtime resident of Canton, Pa. passed away peacefully at the Sherwood Retirement and Personal Care Home in Canton while surrounded by family on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018.     The daughter of the late Robert and Ruth (Wilcox) Biddle, Anne Biddle Preston was born in Elmira, N.Y. on Sept. 9, 1927.  After graduating from Elmira Free Academy in 1945, Anne attended Syracuse University, majoring in music and theatre. She was employed in radio broadcasting for two Elmira radio stations, including hosting her own show under the name of Jane Bond. 
  On September 22, 1951, she and Lee Manley Preston were married at the North Presbyterian Church in Elmira, N.Y. and settled in Canton, PA.  Anne and Manley shared over 56 wonderful years together and were blessed with three children: Sandy (Geoff McNett), David, and Nancy (Douglas Lockwood).
​   Mrs. Preston was a choir director for many years at the Canton Church of Christ, an active member of the church and served as a Deacon. She was a volunteer coordinator for the Canton Area School District and piano accompanist and choreographer for the elementary school productions for 25 years. She was also involved in numerous area organizations. Anne traveled extensively with her husband, Manley, when he was President of the Pennsylvania Bankers Association (PBA). 

       Members of Anne’s extended family include grandchildren Matthew Most, Megan Swetz (Joe), Dan Preston (Aileen), Lee Preston (Lauren), Jay Preston (Noell) and Charlie Preston-Townsend (Aila); great grandchildren Kayleigh and Brett Most, Preston and Everett Swetz, Tommy, Raya, Marshall, and Ike Preston, and Kendyll Preston; nieces Janie Riggs (John) and Kendra Biddle (daughter Kristin); and Nephew Steve Biddle (Tammy). Special family friends include:  Janet Walburn, Norm Townsend, and Rozi Galea.
    Anne was predeceased by her beloved husband, Lee Manley Preston, brother Craig Biddle, sister-in-law Jennie Biddle, brother-in-law Phillip Preston, sister-in-law Mary Lou Preston, and son-in-law Benjamin Most.  
    Her family received friends from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, September 22, 2018, at the Pepper Funeral Home & Cremation Facility, 578 Springbrook Dr. in Canton.  The funeral service followed with Pastor Shawn McNett officiating. 
  A private family graveside service was held in Canton’s Park Cemetery.
